AR & JE Meylan - Steel chronograph watch

Founded in Le Brassus, in the Vallée de Joux, maison Meylan has been producing high-end chronographs since the end of the 19th century. In the 1950s, the brand was represented in the United States by AR & JE.

Meylan became a commercial branch specializing in exceptional chronographs, produced in small series and now very difficult to find.

This reference 16836 is a three-register chronograph in stainless steel, circa 1950-1955. The silvered dial features black Arabic numerals, a red tachymeter scale on the flange, and three recessed sub-dials. The gilt feuille hands, the central chronograph hand, and the two pump pushers complete a set with perfect legibility. The signature “AR & JE Meylan” is printed directly on the dial, a rare marking, since the majority of Meylan pieces from the period were branded on the movement only.

The movement is powered by a Lemania 321 caliber, one of the most renowned and reliable chronograph movements ever produced. The period steel Jubilee bracelet perfectly completes the piece.
