Longines - Gold-plated Cow Horn watch

Produced around 1955, this elegant Longines immediately stands out for the expressive architecture of its gold-plated case and its long sculpted lugs, commonly nicknamed "cow horns."

Its silvered dial features a particularly well-balanced composition, combining applied Arabic numerals at 12 and 6 o'clock, fine gold-tone indexes, and the famous Longines winged hourglass. The gold-tone hands and central seconds hand harmoniously complete this ensemble typical of the 1950s.

The original dial has developed a natural patina accompanied by various marks and spotting related to its age. The hands also show pronounced patina. These traces of time reinforce the authentic character of the watch and give it real depth.

The gold-plated case retains beautiful proportions despite several scratches and signs of wear, notably on the lugs and bezel. The screw-down steel caseback also shows numerous scratches. The Longines branded crown is still present.

The watch is powered by the Longines caliber 23ZS, a manual-winding mechanical movement with 17 jewels and central seconds. Appreciated for its careful construction, this caliber perfectly represents the expertise of the Saint-Imier manufacture during the 1950s.
